331 or 347
I want to stroke my 302 pretty soon, but I'm not sure which kit to get. I've heard that there are some problems with 347's. Which one puts out more power and which is more relable?
any information would be extremely helpful. thanks,

All things being equal, naturally aspirated, the 347 will make more power. The reliability should be about the same, just make sure you buy decent parts.

I plan on going with the stroker kit from DSS Racing..
•DSS Pro-Lite forged pistons •Forged polished I-beam rods with •Cast steel stroker crankshaft •Moly rings •Tri-metal rod and main bearings. $1095.00 unless there is a better setup for about the same price maybe alittle bit more but not to much more.

You probably wont find much difference between $1100 kits. I'd call Probe, Dss, and Pro Power and pick whoever you feel the most comfortable with.

You may want to consider one of DSS' stroker short blocks. It will save you alot of time and probably costs a little less in the end. That way all the machining is done and you're ready to bolt on H/C/I. They have a Level 10 & 20 prepped blocks that appear to go through alot of solid machining processes. It may be worth a look.

Another vote for 347, unless you're going to boost or spray it.

What if you're going to use boost, 331 or 331?

HAHAHAHA! Another cubic inch question. I say MORE CUBES!!
Btw, when the first 347 kits came out, there was some kits nicknamed "oilburner". This was because the wrist pin was too close to the oil ring land. All the big name kits have since solved that issue. I would say either DSS or CHP would be your best bet. Or old "uncle henry" (Ford Racing) as jester said awhile back.

I am always in favor for more cubes too.
I just wouldn't apply a power adder to a stock 302 based block or a even a 302 based sportsman block. If you want 331-347 with a power adder, then go get a Dart block or R-302 block. If you are planning on a power adder, then stick with a stock stroke. |

The pnly time I vote for less cubes is in certain types of class racing, and only for boosted engines. With pulley restrictions, most often the smaller cube engine will make more power than the bigger one.

Is it not a good idea to stroke a motor if your gonna use a charger or nitrous?
