what head gaskets? and other misc questions.
It's nice out and its time to put the ported e7's and the ecam in my 89 GT.
1) what headgaskets should i use 2) am i gonna have a pain in the but time with my pedastal mount 1.6 roller rockers with the new cam. the motor is all stock right now. 3) the car has been ticking like an exhaust leak would sound. i've tightened every bolt possible, and now i'm not sure if its a tick or a ping, timing is at 10 degrees advance and i do have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator set at 38 pounds. Last and unrelated, i had a buddy put a heater core in for me, because i didn't want to rip the dash apart, i know i am a wimp, but for 80 bucks i couldn't beat the deal, problem is i'm getting no output to my stereo speakers, is there a problem any of you have had similar, so i know where to look. thanks i know its long winded but i haven't been on in months. |

Re: what head gaskets? and other misc questions.
The gaskets I like are Corteco's. I really like the head gaskets, but the whole kit is awesome.
The pedestals shouldnt give you too much problem. Just be sure to get a shim kit. There is an acceptable range of preload on the lifter plunger so they dont have to be 100% dead on. Andy

Re: what head gaskets? and other misc questions.
I'm gonna second the Coteco's, spoke with a few Pro-5.0 guys that are using it. My Fel-pro's aren't holding to well on mine right now. I know it goes without being said, but make sure you clean the surface well and follow torque sequence. Good luck!
