Did oil change and now I'm confused.
I always check my oil and keep it at the full line because leaks a little oil. I just did an oil change and put 5qrts of oil in and according to the dip stick I have put to much oil in. Is this the right amount of oil or is the dip stick in my car the wrong one?

It only takes 4 quarts if you didn't change the filter. How much over is it. It may be ok, if it is alot over, don't run the motor, drain some out.

If you did an oil change I hope you changed the filter too. Its a cheep enough part to replace. There are also 2 drain plugs in the pan. One in the front, and one in the back. Did you drain the both, of forget the one in the front? If you didn't drain both then thats why you would have more oil reading on the dipstick.

I have made that mistake. When I first got the stang, I changed the oil ad only poured out about 1/2 qt. I put 5 back in. About 2 weeks later, I had to have the engine rebuilt!!
