Holly SystemMax II info??
Anyone heard anything on the Holly SystemMax II? I heard you can order the kit with an optional emission legal cam. Is this true? Also claims to make up to 350hp. I'm thinking of rebuilding my 88 GT over the winter. Any info would be great.

I've been thinking about that kit too for my '95 GT. Excessive Motorsports claims 12.40's with that kit, bigger injectors and a mass air. Post what you find, please.

I think the emissions legal cam you are talking about is the one that comes in the SystemMax I package. It says on Holley's site that you can order everything seperately so maybe you could get it, but it probably wouldn't work very well with the SystemMax II heads. Rick91GT had the whole SystemMax II set up running for a while. I think he was running a low 12. He has since switched to a custom cam though. He can tell you everything you want to know about it.
There was one guy who was running the SystemMax II kit with a 150 shot (I think). I think he was running mid to low 10's. I don't remember off hand exactly what it was. I saved some videos he posted if anyone is interested. Maybe someone (or him) will recognize the car/videos. I don't think think they sell the SystemMax II set up for SN95 cars, but I have read about a couple guys online that say it can be done. I don't remember what all they had to do. I seem to remember Holley claiming 12.1's with the kit...But it says on Holley's website that the kit also requires 24/30lb injectors, 65/70mm throttle body, 190lph fuel pump, and 1.6 roller rockers with at least a 3.73 gear, long tube headers, and high flow mufflers recommended. heh...BTW...if you haven't heard it before stay away from Excessive Motorsports. ; ) Chad ------------------ http://members.aol.com/chadtn [This message has been edited by chadtn2 (edited 09-04-2001).] |

Yes the kit is worth the money, I went 12.6 @ 108 on 26" x 10.5" M&H RACEMASTER D.O.T's with the kit and I had bad heads from Holley.
I went with a bigger more aggresive cam when I got the replacement heads from Holley and everything is in the sig below. I have went a best of 12.16 @ 113.5 on a 1.78 60ft, with more traction it will go 11's and my cam is made for 4:30 gears which will be going in shortly looking for mid 11's. If your 88 is still Speed Density you will need to convert to Mass Air, they do offer the kit with a less aggresive Emissions legal cam .512/.512, 218/224, 112, the non emissions is .509/.509 218/224, 102/107 with a lot more overlap, very choppy. As already stated EXCESSIVE SUCKS *** , STAY AWAY FROM THEM AND THEIR CLAIMS ------------------ Check Out My Site 91GT,Holley SysteMAX II Kit-Heads 2.02" x 1.60" port matched to a 1262,Anderson N-61,24#,76mm C&L,Full MAC, No A/C or PS or emissions, 12" K&N Filter,RNH PERFORMANCE Ram Air,Ron Davis Radiator,Full Suspension, SPEC stage III clutch, Lakewood SFI bell, S&W 8pt "X" brace,JAZ seats,3:73's,Welds..etc,4:30's and 31 splines coming very soon! WOW. I've been considering the Holley kit also. I was only saying what Excessive says in their ad. At least they were right about the times! Thanks for the heads up on them though, I wil steer clear. You guys ever hear of Unlimited Performance. I'm sure you guys know the Joe Maneiro name as well as Bart from the magazines right? They have some damn fast 'stangs. Well they are the guys who are working on my new (to me) stang. Their billet products are quite nice and reasonably priced. So are their suspension pieces. I have no affiliation with them so I gain nothing from plugging them, but check them out in the magazines. They're worth it.
