Angry What causes harsh ride struts or springs???????

My car is riding very harshly lately and I don't know if its the struts or springs. I did the push down test and it rebounds only once. Also when going over bumps it doesn't "bounce" or have a return instead it just hits hard. Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks.
