Car runs poorly after Tune Up
I just got done replacing the wires, plugs, rotor and distributor and the car doesn't run smooth, it almost sounds lopey. It slightly hesitates each time you push the gas. Earlier I had asked about the plug gap, the parts computer said either .045 or .054. Well we pulled the plugs and they were roughly .048 gap on each plug, so we went ahead and gapped the plugs at .045. When the plug wears the gap opens up right? So anyways, maybe one of the plugs or wires are bad. Or my father thinks maybe we should check the timing. I was excited to get the car running great again, as these plugs have obviously not been changed for some time. Really need help guys. We also checked the wire order 3 or 4 times. Help.

Have you checked the rotor, maybe the metal piece was acidentally bent when you put the cap back on.

Well we checked that just a bit ago, we also checked the wires with an Induction Timing Light. They were firing consistently. The only thing we haven't done is regap the plugs to .054. Which doesn't make any damn sense since the plugs were .048 when we took them out. Would it make that big of a difference if the plug was .045? Really scratching our head on this one... Btw, anyone got the firing order? Couldn't find the Haynes Manual when we moved and this little town doesn't have any. Nearest Autozone = 40 miles. ugh.

Check that, also reset your comp: take batter cable off for 30 min, to reset comp put back on, start car, let idle for 1 min drive it like you stole it |
