351W conversion
Here is somethings I have run across in my attempt to put in a 351W in my mustang. Of course you need the basics, oil pan, distributor, and headers. But in addition, in my case, I also needed a pulley spacer, about 3/4" to 1" for my balancer pulley and accompaning bolts necessary to install. The snout on my aftermarket SFI balancer is shorter than the snout on the factory 302 balancer. Also needed a 351W bracket for power steering and A/C. Got this from summitracing.com part number FMS-M8511B351 for $49.88. And a longer hose for the thermostat bypass hose.

Re: 351W conversion
I have a brand new Ford Motorsport oil pan/pickup/dipstick for that swap on ebay right now. Let me know if you need it, I'll kill the auction.
Most of the people doing that swap just use the balancer from the 351w. Now you have to be VERY careful here. ALL 351 windsors are 28oz balance, so are early (pre-81) 302's. Later 302's are 50oz balanced. Can't put a 50oz balancer on a 28oz balanced crank. With me?

Re: 351W conversion
I agree that use must use a balancer that is balanced for your application, 50oz and 28 oz respectively. I hope i didnt convey the message of using a balnacer from a 302 on a 351w, I was just saying that my aftermarket SFI balancer ( neutral balanced) was shorter than the factory 302 balancer and that "I" needed a pulley spacer to make my balancer pulley line up with my accessories. Thanks for the offer for the hook up on the pan/dipstick/pickup tube, but the ford motorsport conversion pan doesnt work for a 393 stroker application. I have one sitting here too.

Re: 351W conversion
What kind of balancer did you get? Mine actually came with spacers, just for that reason. Now, coming up with the spacers themselves (ie alone, not buying a new balancer) might be a task. Have a good machine shop local?

Re: 351W conversion
