Question Trak-Lock rebuild - in car or out?

I was reading a thread on Trak-Lock rebuilds and somebody was talking about prying in the spring by bracing a 2X4 against the sway bar. I'll be doing this soon. I was under the impression that you had to remove the carrier to do this. Can you do it in the car, and is it too much harder that way?

Most Traction-Lok rebuilds are done with the carrier in the car. It's not that difficult, especially if you have lift access or get it up to a good workable height on stands.
Taking the whole rear out is actually a lot more work, and certainly not worth it just for a Traction-Loc rebuild.
