Decide if you want GT-40 or GT-40P heads.

Decide if you want the explorer or GT-40/Cobra intake.

Up-grade to a 65mm TB

Headers

Anything but the stock fuel pump.

At least an alphabet cam (i.e B,E, or F cam) While you have the timing cover off go ahead and change the double roller timing chain.

Thats if you want to do it right.

If it were me and I wanted the most HP for the cheapest price

Milled GT-40P heads with Long Tube headers.
Explorer intake with a ported lower and 65mm TB
B-303 cam
190lph fuel pump

If you look around all of that can be had for $1,000.00 bux Not bad for a low 13 second car with gears and slicks.

I dont see why anyone would want to go with the Gt40P or Gt40Y heads. Its a waste of money in my eyes. You mise well get the GT40X or another type of head

Why would you say that? GT-40X heads are expensive. GT-40P heads can be had for 250-300 bux and make over 300 RWHP with a little bit of work.

JMO,
I agree (I guess I would - this is what I'm doing to my car), but I would pay the extra money and buy the Crower 15510 (auto) or 15511 cam (T5) for $250 from Powered by Ford.

T5 - F THAT - that carbed engine makes power above 4,000 rpm - not my idea of a good, powerful, street friendly driver. Most of our cars weigh WAY more than yours. Carbs and short runner carb intakes are good for peak numbers - compare average area under the torque curve for the real picture in comparing two engine combos.

Because not everyone has a grand to spend on heads at the time? Im buying some GT40 iron heads because my stockers need to be rebuilt and for the price it is better to just buy the gt40's. Eventually I will have an AFR headed 331

That's funny T5. I've seen you post that engine picture several times now. They don't even specify what cylinder heads they used in that magazine article. You're motor may be similar...but you are even running a different intake.

Oh...and my car is faster than yours. Ha-ha!

Looks like your car is about 3-4 hundred pounds lighter. I dont know whos engine makes more power but.........I am not gonna come right out and tell you I got a nitrous kit cause the local guys read this board but I just ordered a NOS purge system.

How is your car set-up. Do you have a tubular K member and A-arms and gutted interior or what?

The guy that sold me the engine at the Ford dealerhip copied the paper and gave me it. It clearly shows its the exact same motor that I have, what are you talking about, look in the bottom right hand corner! I have been in 11 second cars and beleave me my car can hit that with no power adders. I might not be able to beat you I dont really care theres always someone faster I was just saying that because you are trying to tell me that my motor is not the same one. Bullshit it isnt LOL

I will have some dyno numbers to compare here in about 10 days.

You go T5. Rock on with your bad little self. Do you always talk out of your a**hole? Based on your other replies I'd say "yeah you sure do". When your ready to make some real power, you may want to ditch that b-cam. And that doesn't mean switch to the x303 either. I'm sure that would've been your next move. If you want to give your advice or opinion, don't be so condescending. You may be an ok guy. But you come across as an ignorant little punk. Have a nice day!

Well lets see i know a couple of 10 second cars with gt40 heads and the p's are suppose to flow better. also iy depends on the whole pachage and how you want to spend your money how about 700hp with a fully ported 69 w head ?

And T5Superduty good thing you dont run a power adder with that engine it wouldnt last long

lol this is just a fun car I have always wanted to make a manual and have a fun little thing to drive around. I already had my fast car in the 60's boys. And I got this motor for a really good deal from a buddy of mine at the dealship. It was only like 2800 bucks. Just a quick little replacement from the old tired 302 in the car before.
