could spark plugs and distributer be my problem?
I just realized that my car is only running on 6 cylinders because of a couple of bad spark plugs. But my car has been having so many other problems. For one the idle is really shaky and the car dies when it is cold. The motor backfires in the intake. And the surging has been getting worse and worse. I got diagnostics done and he said it was the IAC and the EGR valve, but i replaced them and no change. Thanks for any help.

Dude, change your plugs, they're like a dollar apiece and it's easy. Then see if you still have the problems.

vaccum check
Yea check to see if there is any vaccum leaks. Hook up a vaccum gauge to a main vaccum line behind the throttle plate and start the car. A normal reading should around a steady 17 or 18. If you have a vaccum leak it will be lower and probably fluctuating.
