Post Fox Computer in a '95 GT??

Okay, here's the deal. I have an '86 GT that has been converted to mass air and a '95 GT. I hate the timing and fuel curves with the '95 computer, and love the upgraded '86's. Are they interchangable? I am planning on selling the '86 soon anway, so I am not worried about the drop in performance of that car. Can I just swap the brainbox and everything wil work? Help me out tech guys!!!

As far as I know, they are not. Unless you get a performance improvement harness (PIH) from Pro-M.

I don't think that they are. A quick way is to look at the number/orientation of the pins of the computer port. If they match, check an electrical diagram for pin/wiring routing. DO NOT install unless 100% positive they are interchangeable!

Another thing to think about is the '95 has air bags....I know I tried changing clusters from an 90 to an 88, and that didn't work cause of the airbags (I was young and stupid), so I'm not sure if the computers will be compatible

I just got done having the computer in my 94 GT swapped to a 93 GT with the PIH.

My mechanic still isn't talking to me.

It is a real PITB because there are about 12-15 wires to change in the harness plug, most of the wires are for the fuel injectors.

It is worse becaust the very last wire to be changed is on the short side of the plug and it needs to go to the opposite end of the plug and there ain't one extra millimeter of wire to stretch it that far. Tim had to solder an extention to get it to stretch and that isn't comfortable while lying under the dash.

Is it worth it? YES! My tranny is on its last legs from powershifts. Unfortunately, it did nothing for my idle problems like Pro-M promised. All I've got is a stock shortblock with Performer 5.0 heads (1.9 valve) Performer 5.0 intake, 70mm TB, 1.7 RR, FoMoCo shorty headers, BBK cat H-pipe, 2-ch Flows, 30lb inj, 190lph FP and it still hunts. If i'da known that, I would have swapped the cam.

When Pro-M first came out with the PIH, they had a connector that plugged in between the body harness and the computer, but they said it cost too much to make so now you have to go to the trouble of pulling the wires out and plugging them in different spots. They got it set up so you remove one wire then the next wire goes in the hole the first wire vacated.

Almost forgot, the 93 computers don't have any way to run the electric fan so you will have to find another way to turn it on. The PIH has a little box that let's you control what temp the fan turns on in low and high speed modes. I mounted mine in the inside of the glovebox door. It also automatically turns on the low speed fan when the AC comes on.
