Default C&L 76mm maf problem

I just recently installed a 76mm maf to replace the stock and the car runs bad. Drove it for two days and it still isn't running well. It stalls out at slow speeds and I lost all top end power. What make it strange is that my friends 76mm C&L works fine and both of our sensors are configured for 19lb injectors. My sensor is ok because it works fine once I put it back in the stock maf. The only difference is that when I used my friends C&L setup we used the stock air box and now I am using a large K&N cone filter. Could the use of the cone filter make a difference? What else could be an issue?

You said your friends C&L works fine, is yours a C&L as well? What year is your car and what year was his? The swap to a conical filter will not cause your problem. Is the Meter at an angle at all?

I found my stock box, and the c&l works fine. It turns out that the issue has to do with laminar flow. Laminar flow is basically a smooth flow of air, vs turbulent air. the k&n I was using was huge since it was made for a suburban and was causing turbulent air when directly connected to the maf. Now, with the stock box, it got the idle in less than a minute and has a noticable top end gain. I did research on the subject and it turns out that this is one of the few downsides to maf, but it is easy to fix. A smaller k&n or cold air intake should also solve the issue.

thanks for the tip. I'm going to put my stock box back in (I also have a K&N filter) and see if that might help my Cobra Intake problem. Idle is fine, but not smooth from take off. once you nail it, it pulls fine throughout the rest of the rpm range.
