Need help quick, easy question I'm just stupid
Dumb question time. I'm replacing the throttle body and mass air. I got the mass air out and the throttle body off, but i can't seem to remove the egr plate. How do you do it? I have to be missing bolts somewhere and the suns going down, I'm running outta light! Also, I didn't buy a bigger egr plate, so would it be wiser to bore out the stock one, or leave it the same size? I'm probably gonna have the intake port matched to 65mm throttle body in the spring, but how much performance am I gonna lose if i just leave the egr plate the same size?

I'm not 100% sure but I think if you look at the face of the egr where the T-BODY mounts to you might see 2 screws or bolts I think they are in the corners, I once saw a buddy take his off mine is different on the 95

The TB is more then likely just stuck on there pretty good. I had to use a hammer to lightly tap mine off when I swapped it out. If I were you I would get and egr plat that matches you TB. There's really no point in getting your intake port matched to you TB if your egr plate is still the stock size. Its just gonna restrict air flow and make the in coming air more turbulent.

HiFlow is right, its just stuck on. I found when I took mine off the studs had actually warped and I had to beat it back on too.

SOrry, I meant the when i port matched the intake i was gonna have them match up the egr plate also. And the throttle body came off easily, its the egr plate i can figure out how to get off. Does it just slide off the studs too?

I'm sorry, I meant to say the egr plate should come right off as well. Its probably just stuck on from years of heat and such. You might be able to bore out the egr plate, but coolant runs through the egr plate to cool in coming air. I'm not sure how close the coolant flows to the opening on the egr plate. Meaning if you bore the egr plate you might hit the water passage, but not totally sure on that.

It's just stuck, the eger plate comes off the same as the tb. IMO your better off getting the matching egr plate.

I agree that it is simply stuck on.
However, you need to get a matching EGR spacer for the new throttle body. Simply putting on a larger TB without the correct size EGR isn't going to do jack for you as you still retain the restriction. Given, it is restricted now over a smaller area, but your intake only flows as good as the most restricted part. Port matching the intake to the throttle body is a good idea, but you're not going to be able to bore the EGR plate much past 55-57 mm if I were guessing. Maybe you can get it to 60mm without hitting the water passages, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Go ahead and spring for the EGR plate. --nathan
