Let's play guess my new motor's horsepower!!
Okay, stock block .030 overbore, new eagle rods, forged K.B. pistons, Trick Flow #1 Cam (221/225 dur. @.050,.499/.510 lift), AFR 165's, Typhoon intake (port matched to heads),73mm C&L meter, 24# injectors, 65mm TB, 1 3/4 longtubes w/3 chamber F.M. cat-back. T-5 in good shape for now, will a tremec bolt up to a stock bellhousing?
I'm hoping for 350-360?? Where should I start with fuel pressure and timing (93 octane ofcourse) Once it is broken in I'll be spraying it with 100-150 shot What spark plugs should I use? AFR says Autolite 3924, starting range? Any input welcome and appreciated. Thanks Wes

Re: Let's play guess my new motor's horsepower!!
My desktop dyno "guessed" 430hp at the flywheel. Need more info, such as compression ratio? I have to look up the exact specs on that cam later too.

Re: Let's play guess my new motor's horsepower!!
Wow. I would guess about 310 to the wheels.
Here's why. I pulled 325 rwhp w/ this combo I have a 351 +.060 over AFR 185s GT40 intakes (I know, but I like the look) 65 mm tb (already upgraded to 75 mm) 1 3/4 LT's 73 c&l meter 87 octane at 12* timing (now at 17* w/93 octane) 30 lb injectors

Re: Let's play guess my new motor's horsepower!!
Heads are 58cc, pistons are flattops (2-4cc eyebrows I think, I'll have to check to be sure all stuff still at mach. shop), fel-pro 1011-2 gaskets .049 compressed I believe.

Re: Let's play guess my new motor's horsepower!!
I think that'll put you around 10.25:1 CR.
Stock combustion chambers are 64cc and the pistons are 5.5cc relief. Add in the fact you're running a 306 instead of a 302, and it puts you up there by pure estimation. |

Re: Let's play guess my new motor's horsepower!!
I started w/ 40 psi and set the timing at 18 degrees for a total advance of 34.
MSD box/ignition might help you get a couple more hp, but I agree with the 300-305 rwhp estimate. Especially if you keep the timing down. good luck...

Re: Let's play guess my new motor's horsepower!!
Here is info on pistons:
Piston Style: Flat Compression Distance (in): 1.608 Dish Volume (cc): 4.80 Valve Reliefs: Two Does that mean 4.80cc X 2? Compression Distance (in): 1.608 Does this number come in to play here? I want to know pretty close to my comp. ratio and have no idea how to figure, probably couldn't with a formula!! Thanks guys!! P.S. I have a crane Hi-6 and blaster coil.

Re: Let's play guess my new motor's horsepower!!
Depending on who's formula you use, I came up with everywhere from 9.06:1, 10.18:1, and 10.83:1 So like said before 10.25:1 is a good place to figure it at.
That's STATIC compression ratio too, don't forget that. Dynamic is gonna be a bit different.

Re: Let's play guess my new motor's horsepower!!
OK Ski, found the specs I needed, dynamic compression is about 10:01:1 with that cam, so you're still in GOOD pump gas territory.
I'm not familiar with throttle bodie sizes and such, or that intake. I "guessed" the TB flow at 660 CFM, and that intake as a single plane. If I'm wrong, lemme know. Here's what Desktop Dyno had to say:

Re: Let's play guess my new motor's horsepower!!
Cool, Thanks Jester but according to the sources I have a 65mm TB flows 616cfm so numbers will be down a little, but I think I've got the combo I wanted and I feel good about the cam, intake and heads working well together??
I just need to nail down a sound baseline on fuel pressure And timing. The aluminum heads allow you to run a bit more timing than iron heads??
