Guru help needed.....(sub-frames?)
I'm changing the sub-frame I guess you could call it..., on my (89')Conv.GT. I'm using a sub-frame out of a (88') 5.0 LX I went to the parts store to order new motor mounts and the conv. ones are specific to the conv. I was told that the sub-frames might be different does anybody know about this change? Am I going to run into problems?

There is a right side and left side for the motormounts. On my ASP solids you could tell by looking at them that they were different.

What are you talking about - sub frames? Are you talking about sub frame connectors? Or are you talking about the actual frame of the car? Please clarify. Take pics if you have to!
As for the motor mounts (it's really an engine, not a motor ), go with Energy Suspensions poly mounts for the engine and tranny. I bought the convert mounts and really wish I had gone with Energy Suspension stuff, although the convert mounts are fine. I'm not sure if the convert mounts sit the engine higher or not, they did raise mine a little (90LX 5.0), but my mounts were shot so the engine was probably sagging to begin with. Email me when you reply to this Big Bopper so I can see what you are talking about in regards to the subframes ------------------ Gunning for 12's! Buy your parts here ICQ# 42269241 |

I mean '88 and '89 mounts are the same whether they're convertible or not. The convertable mounts are a little stiffer than the regular mounts, that's why you hear about replacing worn originals with convertible mounts! |
