Question What header coatings recommended?

I am getting some longtube headers for my S-trim roadrace Mustang, and want to know what coating should I get.
I looked at HPC and JetHot... any others?
What coating, Extreme or normal? IS it worth the price? WHat are the prices...?
Fill me in please.

Drudis,
I'm sure you have already found you can buy headers pre-coated. BBK uses Jet-hot on their long tubes. The added price is around $60-80. This type of coating is said to reduce underhood temps and save spark plug boots, clutch cables, and starters.

If you already have the headers, some did-it-yourselfers have used POR-20. It can be brushed or air-sprayed. Check out this site: http://www.por15.com/hightempcoatings.html

Normally, I'd say no BUT depending on what kind of road racing you're doing it might be worth a little extra money. Certain types of road racing can put the engine in high rpm ranges for extended periods of time. I'd just buy whatever the manufacturer you select has. I've got MAC 1 5/8" shortys that are HTS coated. I dunno if it's worth the extra money on my street car, but you live and learn. They do still look pretty good after almost 2 years of hard driving though.

Ok, lets narrow it down a bit:
I am looking into exhaust coatings for my longtube headers...
HPC: $220 + $20cleaning(used headers) + shipping
1300'F

JetHot: $279 shipping
1300'F
-or-
2000'F in an (ugly) satin black finish for $25 more

1. What company and coating do you guys recommend (have experience with)?
2. What are the temps on a supercharged exhaust? <===== BIG QUESTION =====

Wink

My dad is giving me a really early Christmas present of paying to have my hooker longtubes coated with aluminized ceramic coating from Airborn Coatings. Their stuff is supposed to be friggen awsome! It is $160 for the outside, and $205 for coating the inside and outside of tghe headers. The finish is like brushed aluminum and looks killer. It won't discolor under extreme temps either. Check them out at www.airborncoatings.com . They also have an article in the latest High Performance Mopar magazine. Deffinately worth checking out. Light Em Up!!!
