Default Getting Rid of the cats, MIL Eliminators??????

Hey guys, i am gonna cut my cats outta my stang here pretty soon, and i have heard on the newer stangs that the check engine light will come on and it could bog performance cuz it makes the computer read incorrectly, is this true for the 88's also?? 4 cats is just too many for me. And i dont really wanna buy a new h-pipe, so i am goin old school and cutting and welding in new pipes, lot cheaper. Anyway, will i need to do anything to my computer? Will the check engine light come on? THANKS

No, it will have no effect on your computer. I would say check the boards for a used H-Pipe. You can pick one up for $50-$75 It will fit the best and give you better performance (2 1/2") then just cutting out the 2 1/4" pipes and welding in new ones. Plus you can keep your stock one and throw it on when it's time to take emissions. You will love the sound and power increase.

Hope this helps.

No, your check engine light will not come on. On pre-95 stangs there are 2 02 sensors and they are before the cats, therefore they still send the correct reading to the computer after deleting the cats. On 96+ stangs, there are 4 02 sensors, 2 before, and 2 after the cats. That is why 96+ need the MIL Eliminators.

theres no need for MILS on 95's and below. You can pick up new 2 1/2inch o/r h-pipes for $120 shipped....or check the boards for used ones.
