Egr Delete
Ok, I done a search and didnt quite find the answer for this:
Deleted all the emissions including the egr on my 86GT, some say that I will have detonation problems and others while other people say no porblems at all. So far I have about 15,000 miles on this motor with no problems yet. Mods are bored 30 with an E cam, stock heads with trickflow valvesprings. |

I blocked mine off and have no problems. If it rattles just back off timing a degree or two. I have my timing set at 15 and I have an AOD.

Sorry to but in..but out of curiosity...how will an EGR delete affect driveability? Does the car tend to backfire more at part throttle, etc? Does it screw with the gas mileage a lot?

I took mine off for two reasons #1it was bad and opening to quikly causing low speed surge (Ioriginally just plugged vac line) #2 I put on adj reg and it was easier to get to reg with it off. No driveability problems at all timing is set at 15. Backfire is usually sign from bad EGR opening to quick. Only problems you might experiece are ping just back timing off a little and meeting emissions (noticed your from FL so that wont be a problem)

Well the car backfired a lot with the old valve..it was plugged up. So I replaced it with a brand new one and it ran great for a day or two, then started doing the backfiring thing again. How can it open too quickly...I mean what would cause that??
