Water Leaking In...HELP
I'm getting water on the far right side of the front passenger footwell. Light rain or carwashes do not result in any leaking, but any kind of persistent rain or heavy down pour and I have a 1/2 inch of water on my carpet.
What is causing this? I do not see any water on any part of the door upholstery, window or near the door hinge. Can it be coming in from up behind the dash??? Its a 93 LX hatchback w/91000 miles and this problem has only started in the last year. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

well it could be anything. your gonna have to find out where it starts coming in first! your floor board could of rusted through, check the holes where the seats bolt down, check your door weaher stripping, check your shifter seal or any grommet on the firewall. like i said it could be anything.

I've ruled out the floorboards. I'm under it often and everything is fine on the surface. Besides, the water only seems to accumulate when the car is sitting still. I can drive it for hours in pouring rain and it stays completely dry.
I'll check the seals like you said and see what I can find. |

If it's clear water, 2 things to check:
1- If you use the A/C, the A/C drain tube could be stopped up. 2- Drain for fresh air intake in front of windshield stopped up.

this may sound weird but check it out. see if you have a vacuum line broke loose that might be hanging towards the ground. it could be suckin in water to your heater box. you may also have a damaged heater core and it might be leaking. do your defrosters on your front window steam when u turn them on at all? then its the heater core. if it is, GOOD LUCK replacing it!

another place you might chech is the grill in front of the window mine does the same thing but on the driver side
Suggestions: put a water hose on the grill and leave it there then look in the car and see exacaly where it is coming in at if it is coming in there youve got BIG problems and you should get a specificly made peice of plexy glass that has a gasket around it with wing nut that bolt into the grill |

I'll try running a hose @ the cowl grill. The leaks only occur when the car is parked and raining, not when its actually driving. I've driven in some serious rain storms and have had no leaks. If I park it overnight or at work and its raining, then I get the water.
