Which gears, guys? (Poll!)
Hey the next mod I'm gonna get are gears. Currently I'm with the high ratio stock 2.89's. Any suggestions for the next set? I'm thinking either 3.73, 4.10, or 4.30 or lower. I want good milage and I dont care about top end crap. If I get +14 mpg I'll be happy. Leme know what you guys think

3.90s?
I thought I heard a few months back that Ford came out with 3.90 gears for the 8.8s. I've had 3.55s & 3.73s and loved them both. But I'd love to experience what the 3.90s would feel like being that they are right inbetween the 2 most popular gearing sizes for our 5.0s...3.73s & 4.10s.

if your looking for gas mileage i would go 3.55 or 3.73, but if you are going to run at the strip remember the taller the tire you run, the more its going to kill your gear ratio.

Ive been planning on using 4.30s, just because I dont make any power out of the hole and a 26x10 slick kills me! Plus Im just hitting 4th gear as I cross the traps with my 3.73s, baddddd mojo!

4.10's get my vote. Before the supercharger, I'd cross the 1/4 line at 5300 in 4th gear. Perrrrrfect.

I put 3.55's in 3 years ago and loved them. I just put some 4.10's in a week ago and keep askign myself why I never did that to begin with. I absolutely love these gears. And who really cares about gas mileage anyway once you get rid of the 2.73??

I believe the 3:90's are for the Ford 9"
Im gonna go 3:73's because i do go on the freeway every now and then but not enough to need 3:55's. I want to get semi decent gas mileage since this is my only car

I would go for the 373 gear. I had a 410 in my car and would have to shift as soon as I started. The extra torque I gained was wasted because id just spin the tires. Most times i would start out in 2nd. After that I went with 373 and love them. Oh yeah I would cruise 70 mph at like 2700 from what I can remember.
Hope this helps

theres a couple other questions you need to answer before we can help you decide. Namely, will you be drag racing primarily or is it just for fun on the street?
Will you be using street tires, or slicks? street tires- 3.73's dr's - 4.10's slicks -4.30's
