Finally ran 10s......Is this board DEAD
First of all, Finally got the 342 done. With the help of a very dear freind who put in three weeks of labor on it for me.
1st trip out, 3.55s and BFGs it went 12.13 @ 118. I missed 2nd 3 times 3rd once and granny shifted it bad to make 1 good pass. 2nd trip, figured out the the 3550 don't go into 2nd over 6000, so I shifted 2nd at 5800, and third at 7000. This netted a 12.83 @ 123 again with 3.55s and crossing in third. 3rd trip, 4.30s, 28 X 10.5s best E.T. was 10.79, had a 10.83 missing 4th, and a 10.92 over revving it (7500) The MPH was a best of 125.8and the 60ft was a 1.43 The car has more in it, I was on pump gas, full exhast, and so nervous it wasn't funny. Its been almost 3 years sence I have been down the track, and never that fast. I had issues every pass. I think that I am gonna go with a C4. I am tired of fighting the shifting. Well needless to say I am happy with my results so far, and the complements at the track are great. Especially when I drive it there. Now the 2nd topic, WHERE IS EVERYONE? What happened to all the folks that we had here? Are their too many options and detailed areas to where we are all split up. We were a FAMILY. I was down and out for a while, divorce, new house, new job, car not running, but come on where is everyone. I came home to an empty house. I am now a lonly old poster from way back that lost all his friend I guess............

Re: Finally ran 10s......Is this board DEAD
1st, Congrats on the successful pass. I vote to stick with the man pedal and work out the bugs, though its hard to argue with the performance/consistency of a modern auto.
2nd, I know how you feel.

Re: Finally ran 10s......Is this board DEAD
Thanks Guys, I am going again this Friday night. Trying to get a good clean pass. Hope so
I think that the board has too many places to go. Too many specific topics. It keeps you from seeing it all, and others from seeing U.

I still lurk in the shadows every once in a while. Trouble for me is I bought a house and have not had the time for the car this year like I have in the past.

Re: Finally ran 10s......Is this board DEAD
My car has stalled in progress too. I've been pretty busy on the weekends this summer, which since I live 45 mins from my car thats the only time I get to work on it. Plus I've been distracted on a LM7 (5.3L chevy Gen III) motor Im building. I figure it will still be there when I get time to work on it i guess...

Re: Finally ran 10s......Is this board DEAD
Well, I fixed the 2nd gear trouble, I found the old articals on pro shifting, or crash box what ever you call it. I removed every other tooth from 2nd gear, the blocking ring and sycronizer, it shifts at 7500 now if I want too. If we quit getting huricanes and rain 3 times a day I'll go back to the track.

Re: Finally ran 10s......Is this board DEAD
It was good paint, I was the problem. I was mad because I paid a paint shop to do it and he painted it purple again. So when I got home I did it my self. I didn't even whipe it down before I sprayed it. Half way sanded it and sprayed it.

Re: Finally ran 10s......Is this board DEAD
So why is Mustangworks dead? The uber forum divisions don't help. There just is not enough/was never enough traffic to support the divides.
Windsor Power Modular Madness Classic Mustangs Small Ponies Site Talk Blue Oval Lounge Stang Stories and maybe a single Events forum is all that's really necessary. The objective of all the forums was obviously to streamline the search for information and make it easy to find stuff, but when people with the answers don't want to look through 23 forums to help out, everything really breaks down. I think a lot of the aftermarket industry really collapsed as well. The 5.0L had a long time dedicated following, but the move to the modular engines complicated the N/A modification process and made it a lot more expensive with tempermental computer systems and a less capable N/A SOHC 4.6 that went into the GTs. The old 5.0's are getting pretty long in the tooth these days. It's been nearly 15 years since the last 5.0 Mustang rolled off the assembly line. #1 Forum Divisions Make Navigation Difficult #2 Discontinuation of many of the traditional pony car competitors. #3 Replacement of the easy and inexpensive to modify 5.0 in favor of the more expensive and difficult to modify 4.6L. #4 Ford attacking the entire aftermarket over use of the name "Mustang" and logos, etc. #5 Power consolidation between the mustang websites. Corral.net is the only busy Mustang site anymore. Stangnet divided up the forums just like Mustangworks, but Stangnet remains on life support with a few posts a day in their biggest forums. #6 Lack of interest in the Mustang from younger enthusiasts (16-25 years old maybe?). Myself, I have little interest in the Mustang anymore. In fact, I have little interest in Ford anymore. My 01 and 02GTs were complete garbage. I drive a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder LE nowadays, and it's been just over 5 years since I've owned a Mustang. |
