Default I need tips when buying a used mustang...

I am still lookin at that stang..and the guy is gonna trade me straight up for my 1998 chevy metro..hahaha..yeah..funny shit..eh?

anyway, I've inspected the engine bay and everything is a little dirty..but seems to run fine....

the interior is in DAMN GOOD condition, and there is no major problems with the exterior body..

I was just wondering about "Bondo" and "unibody" problems

Can someone give me some tips or some advice on how to check for these??

I need to inspect

* The underbody more closely for rust and for cracks
* BONDO ALERT!!! (how do i tell if it is bondo?? run a magnet over it?)

Thanks! any advice would be appreciated!!

TTYL!!

Look like some mods on it. Fox body is good. But not enough stong for old car with mods. It's recommend to add:

Strut tower brace
G-Load and subframe connector to help it a lot.

Code reading and compression test is also necessary.
Code reader for Ford made by equus do the job and it's around 20-30 $ CDN at walmart or Canadian Tire.

Everything else is just about normal driving.

Finally. Two advices about the stangs.

Try to find one or two good local salvage yards. This will help you to save a ton of money on your car when it will break. I hate to pay the retail price for part i can get about for 5 - 10 times less.

The second is about your metro. I don't know about winter in B-C but it's very usefull to have another car. Specially if it's in perfect working condition and if you don't loan money on it too. Often, stang owners are good mechanic. You'll surely work on this car too. Then you'll love to have another car just in case.

check for proper panel alingment ie the hood isnt sittting higher than the quarters or vice versa the gaps between panels are consistant and just my opinion bondo doesent always mean bad as long as it was done right also a stang for a metro is a good trade any day of the week get the mustang before he comes to his senses

Look over the engine bay closely and look for anything out of the ordinary. Crawl under the car, look for leaks, anything unusual--dents, severe scratches, wrinkles from a potential accident, etc. If it's a hatch, pull up the rear carpet on both sides and take a look around.

I spent over an hour looking over my car when I bought it, the lady at the dealership gave me some weird looks when I crawled under the car six or seven times. Take the extra time before you make the trade, that was your less apt to come across any surprises.

Finally, see if the previous owner has any service records or reciepts.
