Default cleveland heads on a 302

I have been reading a lot lately on this subject, and have seen a lot of pros & cons the bottom line is I really want to do this. I have a set of 4brl & 2brl heads. Most say to use the 2v heads for the street and that's where the car will be.I dont like the idea of having to run over 5000 rpms to get the benefit out of the heads. I read in the archives that someone had recommended the edelbrock boss intake for this application can any one tell me if the ports actually match the 4v heads, because the add for the intake said it had a low power band. This made me think it may have the smaller intake runners like the 2v heads. Hope someone can help.

well u didnt say what heads u have now or what your has done to it so im goin to guess its a 302 ho from a fox body stang
ok there are a few 4v and 2v heads you didnt say what u had in mind, some have compustion cambers that will lower your compression way too much,so i would only use the small chamber, the 2 v does have a little smaller valve but both are too big.unless you plan on reving this motor up higher and put tall gears in the rear end and a single plane intake and bigger carb and cam, then this swap isnt for you.you would notice all topend power and would be a slug in the lower to mid range power

Thanks for the reply. I have several options in mind .--------------------------------1. have 70 302 to rebuild
2. have an option to buy a fresh 92 gt 302 roller motor stock
3. have option on a 69 4v 351 winsor
4. have 400 out of 77 cougar 68000 miles with c6 attached
5. found a edl.performer for the 400 online for 50.00 this would help cost wise on the 400

Parts that I have
1. 1 289 block
2. 2 302 complete but wore out
3. 1 351c2v block Questionable if rebuildable
4. Pr. of 351c 2v heads open chamber
5. Pr. of 351c 4v heads closed chamber for solid lifters
6. 1 holley street dominator intake for 289/302
7. almost new hedman 289/302 headers
8. Pr. of 351w heads, dont have the #s but cant be the good ones because they have the pollution ports in the back

I need to go with an economicl plan which I had hoped would include the 351c4v heads because they came off my 1st hotrod
seems as if I dont have anything that goes togather an makes power.

First time fooling with a ford since I was a teenager.

Is the pollution controlls on the 400 in the head or Intake?
From what I have read the 400 is very torque motor with only cam headers and intake. Torque is what is fun in a street car to me, I am way past the need to go fast but really like to get to 70 quick if I need to merge onto the Interstate.
