Right way to mount subframe connectors?

I was told from someone you have to put the car on a lift the and it has to be on it's wheels? I can see how, since your car would be squared, but my car was put on a chassis lift with the wheels hanging, while the frame connectors were welded, does this mean my connectors are wrong? or should i not worry about it......thnx for any info.

I really wouldn't worry about it. As long as your not jacking up one wheel at a time and doing it, your fine.

At my shop, we use the following theory. If when on the lift the doors & hatch open/close the same way as when the car was on the ground, then we'll weld the subframes with the car supported normally on our lift. If they won't close/open the same, then the car is weakened and we'll spend some time trying to relieve the load on the unibody until we believe we've got it somewhat straight.

I once considered using subframe connectors on my '65 coupe, but I occasionally hear that having them on your car is mutilating it. Plus I'm not even sure if they'd make a difference at all on a moderate street car.

I'm upgrading the suspension soon, should I even be considering using these? If so, would standard connectors be enough or should I pay the extra $30 or so and get tubular connectors?

I have mac tubular welded in, they were the cheapest ones, the square tubing is more rigid, If i had to do it again, i would get full length, squared ones.

Would I need them if I'm only planning on 300hp at the wheels at the most? Are they simply a good idea structurally even if I'm not planning on racing the car? I'm still murky on at what performance level these should be installed on a '60s mustang.

I have them on mine and for a long time was not even close to 300 horsepower. I would put them on any old Mustang that I own period, especially if I ever planned on modifying it at all.

I guess all I need is to find a good shop to do the welding then. Not an easy task in Stockton.

Is the square tubing really more rigid than tubular? I found it a little odd that the square tubing is cheaper. Is tubular harder to spot once it's on the car?

The square tubing should be more expensive, I think the tubulars are easier to spot then the square ones, either way they are not too noticeable unless you look under the car.
