Red face Dashlights going in and out! help!

..when its cold outside, and i turn on my parking lights / headlights / foglamps, the inside dash lights + air conditioner lights won't come on unless i bang real hard on the dash right above the gauges

i dismantled my dash to check it out:

there was a kind of jumper wire between 2 of the 6 terminals on the headlamp switch....but i don't remember which 2 they were. i played w/ the thing trying to get it to work for about an hour, and then had to put it back together to get to school

now i don't get anything at all in the instrument cluster or the a/c controls...

before i could pound on the instrument cluster from the top and it would usually come on after some hitting, but now, not even a flicker!

i noticed that a couple of the connections on the 6 plug headlight connection look like they've been warped a little from the heat that the switch generates

any ideas?????

i'm inclined to think that its NOT the switch, cuz before when i'd bang on the top of the gauges, they would usually come on

Mine does the same thing. Let me know if you figure it out. Mine just stays off for awhile and when the motor heats up the lights turn on.

Good example of the ford wiring that I have been fighting for 4 years on my car

Your dash lights have a Voltage regulator that sometimes can cause problems, The dashpot on the light switch goes, and the cigar lighter sometimes is used for a ground for the dash lights... Just afew places to look, BUT if I where a betting man (i'm not) I would look into the voltage regulator in the dash light's...
