My Tri-Ax didn't come with one, you have to reuse the old one. ~Brian

I used the stock one, you can do it when you remove the shifter, you don't have to drop the tranny. ~Brian

Mine stayed in the shift linkage in the trans when I took my stock shifter out, so I didn't have to worry about taking it out. I guess if you tried you could break it, but all you'd have to do is take a trip to your local Ford dealership and pickup a new one. ~Brian

Thats what I did and I think it cost a whopping $1.50. At first I used it without it and it seemed to work fine, there was just a tad bit of play in the shifter.

I remember back when I put mine in, a guy told me to make sure I put it in, said he grenaded his tranny, so I didn't want to take the chance. ~Brian
