Default starter and alternator questions

I'm looking at installing a 93 cobra starter on my 86. Someone said it was a high torque unit and you had to run an extra wire from the solenoid. Is that right?

Second, also looking into a 130 amp alternator from a 93 police car. Is that a direct swap or do you have to do the 3g conversion with that setup also?

I have access to a Motorcraft warehouse and they stock both units a really good prices compared to other options.

As for the alternator, watch the input/output wire sizes, as you are running more current thru it, you need to upgrade the feed wires.

I got my mini "high" torque starter of an early 90's truck. They came on different ford vehicles.
