How much rear wheel HP do you need to make a 3300 Stang/w 4:10s and a C-4 to go high 10's
low 11's.Im in an argument with a friend that is a Camaro drive, and I say about 400HP to the rear wheels. He says 550. What do you guys/gals think? |

I'd tend to agree with you, a little over 400 RWHP. Of course I'm no expert, so don't listen to me

I would say about 350-400 ft. lbs. of torque. Horsepower varies to much.

I would probably say you would need around 450 hp to go low 11's high 10's...400 hp should put u in the low 12's high 11's..thats still damn fast

Damn...50 hp will net you a full second??? I hardly agree, sorry. My car I just sold dynoed 324 rwhp, and ran a best mph of 112, so that is high 11's low 12's there. Once you get up so fast, it takes more hp and tqur to go faster, still, I say 450 rwhp, so I do agree with you on the 450 rwhp.

88PONY, to get solidly in the 10's you have to have way over 450. More like 500-550. Closer to 550 though. My 89 GT dynoed at 480 before we adjusted fuel press, TPS, and a few other things. It hit the 11.1sec barrier after all the tuning, and we estimate 525 or so at the wheels. Keep in mind we haven't gotten it back on the dyno yet. But when we do, I'll post it. We also made that pass on street tires, so with slicks or DR's we wouls be in the 10's(given the right driver).

Smoke-I had the mods listed in my sig, but then I swapped cams to the TFS #2 cam, and had my heads cleaned up(valve job, bowl blend. gasket matched...)I had my Intake gasket matched to the heads. I also installed a crank pulley, and swapped out my cobra computer and MAF for a ProM77, and a A9L just for the dyno(had to give them back after)I did dyno before the porting, and cam swap. I had the exact stuff in my sig, but I also had NO pullies, and a bad exhaust leak. I dynoed 284 rwhp then. Brian, the guy that owned the dyno said my computer was really robbing me, and the exhaust leak was taking about 15-20 hp. So I may have been at 300-305 rwhp then. I'd say that you'd be running anywhere from 350 rwhp at best right now. 400 is easy if you do it right. My bud has a 347 with the Holley SystemMax2 (heads, cam, Intake...)gears, exhaust...blah blah. He has yet to beat me, even at the track. His best MPH so far has been 109. The reason is he has 10:1 comp pistons, and a tine cam. From what I've seen and read, if you want big power out of a stroker, you need a big cam(.550+)and IMO 10.5-11.0 comp. That Bcam and cobra computer are really hurting you.

Agreed. That Cobra computer is the worst computer you could possibly choose. You'll literally be more than halfway down the track before it goes into open loop.
