Aluminum Head Torque Specs

Does anybody know the torque specs for Almuninum heads (I have the GT-40 Trurbo-Swirls) for a 92 5.0 block. Can you supply the torques specs (ft lbs) for upper and lower bolts and torque sequence. I think I blew a head gasket this weekend due to the heads not being torqued down correctly. Any and all diagrams or pictures would be very helpful.

I cant find the ford Specs for aluminum heads, but trickflow has there tourqe specs for all there alum heads and intakes.

I believe 60ft/lbs are the average for aluminum heads. It should be around that when you call them. When you do it, do it in stages (ex: torque them all down to 20lbs, then 40lbs, then 60lbs) It's very important to bolt down the heads evenly.

as for the pattern, you usually start on the middle two head bolts, top then bottom, or bottom then top, doesn't matter. Then go the the ones to the right of those, if you started with the top, start with the top again, then the ones to the left of those, same order, then the ones on the far right, same order, then the ones on the far left, same order. Left and right doesn't matter, just as long as you start in the middle and move outward. And like cyberstang said, go in stages, 20, 40, 60, but do the pattern each time.

Here is a bolt pattern... Torque them down in this order.

Use the above mentioned pattern, but I think they need to be tighter. I've always went to 80 lb/ft.

Take a look here, use the part number 60379 (Standard Edelbrock Alum, 5.0 head) and check out the torque spec. They list it as 70/80.
