GT-40 heads and more
Well I think I have decided to go slightly mild to medium modded and from what I have read from other stangers I am going to go with the GT-40P heads and down the road get them ported, but after looking through my recent mags, I cannot find a place to get these heads, I will be getting the Cobra intake and a larger T/B like 65MM, I think 70 may be too large for my application and then get a 73 C & L MAF or a Pro -M 77, I think this combo would work well with some 1.6 Roller Rockers and a new cam(still trying to decide) But back to my original question where can I get those heads and what is the best price you have found on them, I saw an ad for some that were stage one ported already for $750, would this be a good choice? Sorry so long, and thank you in advance. And to add, I have heard from Bow Tie eater's post that some were looking at the Trick Flow Street intake, should I consider this as well, what is that intake good up to compared to Cobra's 400 h.p.? And to add I did decide on getting the red alum, ASP pulley's to add color to my engine compartment, and have decided to get the Lentech Street Terminator, just not sure whether I will get it with the 12" or 10" converter. Man I better stop while I am ahead..

I bought mine bare. You can get oem valves for $75 (PAW), or manley race flows for $195 (summit). The crane 2030 is a great street cam, and matches the 1.6 rockers. (216/220,112lsa,.533/.544). Larger LSA = broader torque band mild/moderate duration = good cylinder pressure, idle, & low end high lift = good flow (heads will flow to .600", so don't let anyone tell you it's not necessary). split duration = helps out the exhaust... may not be necessary with porting, but I think it's generally good with cats. Price = $210 for the kit (including springs, retainers, etc.). For a little more money, a mild comp cam extreme grind would be great. They have lots of lift, yet a relatively small advertised duration... so good flow, pressure, etc... If budget is a concern, I think the extra money would be better spent in head work though. Also, you could get a dremel (what I did), and do some mild cleanup yourself. There's a really good home port article on www.fordmuscle.com I agree, the 70 mm TB would trade off some low end for the top end... probably not worth it. You might consider a pro-M bullet 75mm... I've seen them advertised for $180. ------------------ '89.5 5L LX, hatch, Medium Canyon Red, 155K Km (No winters), 5sp, 3.08, GT interior, a/c, Alpine CD, K/N, Crane PS91, Walbro 190 LPH, March Pulleys, Mr. Gasket 180 therm (HP balanced), 3 core rad, MarkVIII fan, Variflow controller, Polygraphite front bushings, FMS-5300B springs, 6 KYB's, 73mm Calipers, Maximum Motorsport 4pt chassis brace, Western Motorsport Racing's Sub-frame connectors. Yes, thank you for the info. I was just wondering how well they work for the cost. referring to the GT-40P's and are they worth it or would it be better to look for something else? And has anyone in here worked with Central Coast >>>>>Good or bad rep? Thanks again

I picked up my P's from Bill Klein, real great guy to work with. I got them for $525 assmebled with stainless valves and Comp Cams hardware and they were milled .030 also. Check out my sig for the rest of my combo. I really like it, but haven't really gotten a chance to run it (bad weather). I think the 70mm tb and Pro-M 77 would be overkill. I have seen the Pro-M 75 bullet for sale for $169 at Muscle Motors. The Cobra intake ought to be fine too.
