Default I'm taking my Mustang to the track (any guesses on how Fast)

I'm taking my Mustang to the track nexts weekend. Well I'm going to the track this weekend but I'm racing my Falcon. So the weekend after that I will be taking my Mustang. I just wanted to see what you guys think and see how close you guys get. I'm bringing my street tire and some M/T drag radials. To see whats the difference between the two. I'm only thinking 13.40's

Here is my set up
It is 69 351W . It's bored .030 with 69 351 heads. Also has a hydraulic flat tapped Crane cams duration @050 216in 228ex. valve lift .484in .512ex, 1.6 Scorpion roller rockers, MSD distributor. Moroso spark plug wires. Edelbrock RPM air gap intake with Holley 750 Double Pumper. It has a C6 trans with a TCI 2800 stall converter and a TCI deep trans pan and an 8.8. The 8.8 has strange 31 spline axles with C-clip eliminators and Richmond 3.73 gears with a Richmond spool and a Granatelli Rear end support.

My car weights 3048. Without me in it but that's with a full tank of gas spare tire and jack. When I go to the track. I'm not going to have the spare or jack. It's not going to be a full tank of gas either.

What's the elevation of the track and the approximate temperature and humidity?

Temperature is not too bad. The weather is going to play a factor in your ET. I race at Palmdale in CA. The elevation is 3000' and the wind and the temp always vary in the desert. I've gone almost 6 tenths faster with weather cond alone. I've run 14.10 @104mph(no slicks) and with the same combo went 13.50@107mph with the same setup. The 14.1 was in 100 degree windy weather. The 13.50 was a wintery Friday night grudge. I'm going to guess your car will run 13.20's a hair over 100mph. You might think about a race prepped C-4. Your combo is pretty mild and the C-6 sucks a lot of power from the motor. A C-4 with trans brake oughta wake up your ET. Just my opinion. Have fun and let us know!!

I know weather is a big factor. I'm a bracket racer. I just wanted to see how close everyone gets. This is my street car. What ever it goes I'll be happy with because it so much fun driving it on the street. I know the C6 is sucking up so power that's why I got a glide in my Falcon. The C6 will last beating on it on the street.

My 65' has a 302 with 351 heads and a victor jr with a 600 double pumper. What does your Falcon run? That looks like a mean combo.

Those videos are way cool! Your car sounds mean!! I'm currently building a 65 Falcon. It has a 289 with a vintage Edlebrock cross ram. Four speed car with a 9" rear running 5:13 gears. I'm hoping it'll bust into the 12 sec zone. It also has a tube axle front end. The car is straight from the 60's. What track were you racing at on those videos?

But i need help on what parts to buy. I want get this to 600 HP. Please tell me the products im going to need to do this. I know i need headers ...new intake etc. But i just dont know what brands to get. I heard the edelbrock 4 barrel 650 carb is good. I have a 9,000 dollar limit. Please help! =)

Smile Re: I'm taking my Mustang to the track (any guesses on how Fast)

600 HP out of a 302 is a race only motor. Naturally aspirated engines start losing streetability after about 1hp per cubic inch. You could probably buy a 600 hp small block ford for $9,000. That's a nice amount of money you have to spend on your ride. You might want to start a new thread and ask the same question. You'll probably get more responses.

Well just got back form the track it went 12.93@105 with a 1.74 60ft. It left hard then broke the tires loose. I had to shift to 2 really early everytime. But not bad for the first time out. But it's has more in it. I made 4 runs in this order 60ft 1.81 12.99@105, 60ft 1.83 13.00@105, 60ft 1.74 12.93@105, 60ft 1.80 13.04@105. Everytime going threw the finish line the fuel pressure was at 0. I'll post video's sometime tomorrow.

It's a shame you weren't racing on a 12.93 dial in. That's pretty consistent.

I guess I was way off!! That's sweet. A mild 351 bustin' into the 12 sec zone. You must've done your homework. What kind of Rpm's were you shifting at and what was it at the finish line?? Also, did you foot brake it at the starting line or flash the converter?
