Thumbs up changing from longtubes too......

Hi gang,

well after many thoughts, I have decided to get the P heads for my car and I was wondering do they make a long tube header that will fit onto the P heads and if not, how exactly does a P headers(shorties) work with an off road h-pipe. I have only used my present set-up and I use the Flowtech Longtubes with a short H-pipe, Does the normal h-pipe fit on a shorty, or what exactly would be needed? Just trying to figure this out and get everything I would need. Also if anyone knows, can I use my present stock rocker system with the P heads, or do I need roller rockers? There is a deal from Central Coast for the P-heads assembled with 1.7 Cobra roller rockers, but if I don't need them I will pass for now. And to make this post longer than it should be,I apologize, anyone recomment some good valve and head gaskets for the swap, and will my stock valve covers work ? Forgive me for the length. Thank you all.

I have heard that the MAC long tubes will bolt up to the P-heads don't know about the Flowtechs, you may want to check into it. You will need a new H-pipe with the shorties, the shorty headers will work with a stock 4 cat h-pipe or aftermarket off road or cat. As for valve cover gaskets I am swapping to the ROL's they are a little thivker and are made of rubber, I have heard many good things about them. Get the graphite head gaskets just about everybody sells them. I think your rockers will work with the P-heads, but if they (CentraL Coast) won't drop the price on the heads by $150.00 or so it may be better to buy the heads with the rockers and either use them for a little more lift if you need it or sell them.

Flowtechs will work, but they'll need some modifications check out http://www.geocities.com/motorcitymustang/ Sean had a set and modified them to fit his P heads.

Mac longtubes will work with the P's and the AOD. The Flowtech's need to be messed with for them to fit. I am switching to the Mac LT's so my short P headers and off road H pipe will be for sale. The stock rockers will work with the P's also. For head gaskets, I used Fel-Pro 1011-2, Fel-Pro 1250 for the intake, and Fel-Pro 1415 for the exhaust. These are proven to work. Jeff Chambers runs these same gaskets and he is making way more power than I am with no gasket probs at all.
