93 Mustang GT Torque Converter
I have a 1993 Mustang GT with a stock automatic transmission. The transmission starts slipping when it warms up while in overdrive. I think replacing the torque converter will solve this problem, but I don't know what I should replace it with. Please post your ideas on manufactures/types/models and where I can order it.
Thanks!!!! |

Common problem with AOD. Overdrive is usually the first thing to go. (Clutches) While your replacing the convertor, replace the trans.
*Shameless plug* I have a AOD for sale $450.00. Zero miles rebuilt. Will work if your AOD is not a electronic AODE. Welcome to MustangWorks. |

Thanks for the information. I think your tranny would work in my Stang, since I have manual overdrive. If you didn't live so far away I would seriously consider buying yours.

Im in East Tennessee 37764. Heck, Id split the shipping. Its a great tranny with Raybestos parts. (NO convertor) Shift improver kit. Though its not a racing trans, its a step above stock, or two. Hard to find at that price, with good parts in it.
The OD clutches went out like yours. It would work great as long as you didn't need overdrive. I rebuilt it to put in my Cobra. But instead I got a tremmec. So it sits in my basement, collecting dust. |

Re: 93 Mustang GT Torque Converter
A torque converter isn't gonna solve your problem. The cop from TN is right. Your gonna have to replace your OD band in your tranny or get a new one if you want to fix your problem.

Yeah, my '88 GT is doing somethin similar. After the tranny warms up, it shudders really bad at low RPM, mostly in OD but some in 3rd as well. I'm pretty sure that I either need a new converter, an adjustment on my throttle-valve cable, or a whole new tranny... More than likely it needs all 3

AOD TRANNY
mustangII460,
I am interested in your tranny, if your still willing to split the shipping costs. I'm not looking for a race trans, just something better then stock. So your trans sounds ideal for me. What was the trans originally out of? Steve |

I found a local shop that will rebuild my transmission and put a shift kit in it for $1200.00. I think that I am going to go this route. Thanks for your responses and advise.
