how hard is it to replace TFI module?
How simple/hard is it to swap out TFI modules? I heard there is a special tool you need.

You're gonna need some wierd socket to get at it since the standard sized ones get stuck in the passage if I remember correctly

if you have a set of 1/4 inch drive sockets (the ones with the little tiny ratchet) you'll have one that will fit. I think it's actually 1/4 inch, but maybe 3/16.

So...it's as easy as removing two nuts, putting some dielectric grease on the TFI and putting the new one back on?

Make sure you use the white grease they supply with the module. Otherwise, you'll burn it up.

What's a "ballpark" price for a new TFI module these days?

is the TFI module going bad a common stang problem? how do you know if your TFI is going bad, i would assume the car would not run?
also my stang got 118k on the clock, should i replace the orig TFI module for pieve of mind? Ford part of aftermarket recommended?

The TFI modules were notorious for going bad in Fords.
One of the signs of it going bad is the car stalling and not starting until the module cools off again. Yes, replace the original module if you still have it. That's what I'm going to do. Keep the old one as a spare so you have one if the new one goes someday. That way, your're not left stranded somewhere. I'm not sure if there is a difference between the Ford replacement or aftermarket units.

There was actually a recall on them for 89-92 years. But that was for the ford ranger.
