Drag slicks
Can I run a 10.5" tire without any mods? I want to get a set of MT et drags 26 x 10.5. I will settle for the 8.5's but would rather the 10.5's. Is it really necessary to drill the rims for slicks? It is only to keep the rim from spinning inside the tire right? Summit says the mt et drags can run a little higher air pressure in them. So maybe I won't have to drill the rims? Will 28" slicks fit in the wheelwell? Obviously, I want to run the biggest tire I can. But without tubbing. If I could run a 28 x 10.5 it would be the shit.

there's no need to put the biggest slick in there you can. The more tire there is, the heavier it is, which means more rotating mass, which is bad.
What is your combo and how fast are you wanting to run? to fit a 28x10.5 slick in there, you would have to remove the quad shocks, roll the fender lip, and do a little massaging inside the wheelwell. Unless you're planning on running low 10's-high 9's or faster, then there's not really a need to screw the tires to the rims. You have to run tubes when you screw them btw.

Get the smallest tire that will work! If you have steap gears and you are going to mph high then maybe a 28" tire is in order, but again if a 9 inch tire will do,.... then just get a 28x9. Otherwise go with a 26x8.5 tire. That tire worked for me all the way till the high 11's.
Good Luck |

Color
It's the original paint. I drove the car off the show-room floor. It has only 28,xxx miles on it now. The color is Wild-Strawberry, paint code is "EL" for a 1992 ford.
Thanks for the compliment. P.S The only new paint is on the deck lid (pin on) & the front clip. I had the front re-done so the engine conpartment look good and new Pin-on hood. Not happy with the out-come....has to be re-done. Hood quaility sucks!!!! ) Have to go get a Cervini now. |

I run a 26x10.5 on an 8 inch rim but I have to remove my quad shocks to get them to fit. Which is no big deal.No tubes,no screws. They work great so far, all I need now is to go faster.$$$$

That is a good looking car man. Thanks for all replies. Looks like I will be getting some 26 x 8.5's. I think the car will run high 11's with the suspension in order. What tire pressure do you recommend starting out with? I was thinking like 15lbs or so.
