auto transmission problem
I have a 91 5.0 LX and this morning about 15 miles from home the auto transmission started slipping in all gears, maybe worse in OD. Never had a problem before.
I checked the fluid and there is plenty there, fluid was all replaced about 3 months ago at 54K miles. Fluid replaced because the garage said it was time to change not because of a problem. I did about 4K miles since. I searched in the archives and did a web search but it seems to be unusual to have all the gears slipping, or maybe it is so common tha nobody mentions it! Think it is worth checking the filter or have I a more serious problem? Thanks for ideas

Re: auto transmission problem
I don't know too much about the AOD in your car, but I've rebuilt 4 AODEs for my 95 in five years....they are great transmissions for the stock application but once you modify the motor they're not worth much. If you do need an overhaul, their are tons of aftermarket manufactures who make bullet-proof versions...
good luck

Re: auto transmission problem
Thanks for the advice. I live in Switzerland and there are not many aftermarket manufacturers around. I found one over the border in Germany but they are asking 2K euro (2,500 US) for a rebuild.
I looked in the web and found people like Lentech and "Performance Automotive and Transmission Center" in USA and Canada who sell restored AOD trans for 1,000 - 1.300US but shipping is up to 650US. Anybody know of a European supplier at these prices? Marton
