Default what do you think?

well, happy but i think i could do better.

my best time was 12.8 at 111 with a 1.9 60'
i also had one at 12.8 at 106- i let off in fourth thinking my tranny blew up but it didnt. i wonder what i would have had if i stayed on it!

not bad though. i dont know how to launch it yet on dr's.

oh yeah, i ahd smoke blowing out of the tail pipes as i was going
down and shifting each time on nitrous. is this normal? also, when i came bakc to cool down. smoke was pouring out from underneath. i think it is oil being blown out from the rear main seal to the exhaust. other people said it may be the tranny fluid. any thoughts? it did this after my first run. i let it cool and went out 5 more times, each with smoke coming out. one time it was coming throuhg the vents by the radio (not a ton though).

i made one pass w/o nitrous and no smoke a t all came out.

any thoughts?

thanks

jim

If it does not do it on motor and only when using the spray...then the first thing that comes to my mind is blow by.

What are you using to vent the motor?
...PCV valve, breathers, vacuum pump....????
You are most likly leaking oil out by the dip stick tube along the side of the block on the drivers side. Take a look.

Keep me posted, I believe this can be fixed quite easily if there is no engine damage or excessively worn rings.

ok, i have a breather on the pcv valve. i didn not see any oil on the dip stick tube so i dont think it is coming out of there. i can see it wet on the passenger side back under the valve cover where the transmission? mounts to the motor. is this the rear main seal? i amt hinking it gets blown out and pours down the exhaust. i checked my oil today and i needed to add 1/2 quart. i was full before i went to the track! I pulled spark plug #5 and the pice that curls over is white on the outside. under it where it is over the point, it is black.

i hear these holley II kits create so much oil pressure it sprays it out places???

You have a breather on the PCV valve? Or a breather on the valve cover?
If you have just a breather over the PCV valve you are doing MORE harm then GOOD! The PCV valve needs a vacuum signal to open and vent the crank-case. Other wise it's just like having a plug on it!
If you have a breather over the PCV valve disconnect. ( heres a better way) But first, check to make sure you still have that metal mesh screen under the stock PCV valve.
Then.... you can install a heater hose that would fit tightly inside the platic cup (where the original PCV valve fits) and bring that hose up to about, valve cover height and vent with a breather. Or you can simply just put a plug over the PCV valve, and have a vent over each valve cover.
Most people just run a breather over both valve covers and no PCV valve! PCV will recirculate the crankcase vapors with some oil and will lead to dentention!

i have the pcvvalve in the plastic cup but i dont see a screen. i see the letter f made of metal. i shake it and it rattles. i then have about a six inch hose running up to the breather valve. should i have a screen on the pcv valve somewhere?

oh yeah, my clutch catches up higher now that i went to the track. it is not slipping though. it is not an adjustable cltuch but is an aftermarket one (king cobra i think). is it going on me too?

Ok......under the plastic cup where the PCV valve sits....there should be a metal screen about the size of a "quarter" and about 3/4 inch think. This supposed to help keep oil in the engine and not spill out under high crank-case pressure.....starting to sound familar??.....
If its lost and you can't replace it then extend the hose from the PCV valve cup, to the apron or strut tower and cap it with a Breather. (don't have a PCV valve hook up any where) Also put in a screw-in breather on the Passanger vale cover. This should help alleaveate some of the blow-by issues on spray.
The clutch pedal should grab about mid way up.

i dont have a metal screen under my plastic cup. i reached my finger down where the cup goes and there is just a hole there with noscreen either. can i buy a screen anywhere and the place it over the hole, then put the cup and breather back in?

with the screw in breather, are you talking about where i add engine oil to that goes close to the TB?

thanks,

jim

That screen,... you can find at a local bone yard or call like a Mustang Parts Specialities, Mustang Restorations, etc. Don't forget....don't just put a breather on the PCV Valve because that won't do you any good. Either it needs to be fully vented ( no pcv valve) or keep the PCV valve and hook it up to a vacuum source.

The screw in breather ... would be the one that would replace the "stock factory fill cap" on the passanger side valve cover. You just remove the cap and replace it with the K&N breather. Then put a vacuum plug over the nipple on the valve cover (just below the fill cap) where the plastic tube goes to the throttle body. Don't forget to plug the nipple on the throttle body as well with another vacuum plug. Don't take this as an insult by any means....I just want to make sure we are on the same page.
