Question Which injectors, 24's or 30's for this setup?

I have a 95GT with the parts listed in my signature. I will be adding a set of AFR 165/58cc heads, 75mm Pro-M MAF, 24 or 30lb injectors, 190lph fuel pump, and a cam. With the bump in compression and some tuning I'm hoping to be at or around 340-350FWHP. I know 24's can support up to 380FWHP, and most NA cars run better with 24's, but I have two concerns. One is that I may add a 50-75HP max shot of N2O to it in the near future- this is not definite but is a possibility. And secons, my dad just recieved his Holley Systemax kit and it requires 30lb units and will be making roughly the same power as me, so this has me wondering what to do. I have been told my car will idle better with the 24's, but I just don't know if I will be playing with fire if I go with the 24lb units and add a 50HP shot of nitrous to it, what do you all think? Thanks.

I really dont know, but to give you a perspective I run 24's on my setup with 36psi of fuel pressure and it seems a little rich right now.

I don't know much about nitrous, but I believ that if you get what is called a 'wet' system, it will supply its own fuel as well as the nitrous, when needed.

I think I may be OK with the 24's, unless someone tells me otherwise that is what I'm going with. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

I ran the 30's and had no problems and I also ran a 150 shot of NOS (dry).
The 24's should be fine with your set up but if you plan on adding more power then I would go with the 30's and just run less pressure for now and the computer will cut back the duty cycle a little more with the 30's. There is a guy here in town with almost the same setup as mine but with 24's and we raced one night and we were side by side until I hit the nos.

Hey Paul,

Looks like you and your dad picked up some goodies this winter. So... Whose gonna be faster this year??? Where you getting all this money - I thought you were getting married this year. LOL.

As for your question - the 24's should work good with only mild shot as 50-75. But if your going supercharged route - get the 30's now!!

Are you headed to keystone in early april?? Also, plan on making a road trip somewhere south this year (ie long weekend). If your interested, email me. Your going to have to join our mustang club. Only $20 bucks year and you can earn shirts, hats, jackets etc.. just for going to and participating at club events. We have keystone reserved for August 11th this year. So put that down on your calendar. Good luck on putting everything on!! I am glad I got some parts, cant have some fat convertible beating me. LOL

Bob- it has been a good winter for my entire family. My dad did in fact get the entire Holley kit as well as upper and lower control arms- he is now saving for the rest of the goodies he needs like MAF, injectors, etc, so it might be a while before he gets it all together. My cousin who had the 94 red GT bolted on a Kenne Bell blowzilla in december- all I can say is WOW! Its kind of neat to fry the tires at 40-50mph, and a little scary! As for me, well I am still getting married, and I just put money down on the honeymoon, but I got a new job as a medical sales rep and I am finally making good money, plus I don't have to work in the coal mines anymore! Hopefully by April 1st when the track opens I will have all my parts on. I think I'm going to be the slowest of all of us now, as I dfinitely think my dad and cousin will be in the 12's now with traction, though I don't think I will, I'm still too heavy. The weight I saved with the aluminum heads I just put back on with my global west subframe connectors. I'm shooting for 104-105mph, I think my dad will be at 107-108 (if he gets close to 350HP) and my cousin will be at 108 or so I think- he was running 97mph before the blower. I think I'm going to take a chance and go with the 24's, as I have no plans on supercharging it, at least not till it gets 100K on it and I can rebuild it from the bottom up, but this won't be for 5+ years I think. What kinds of goodies did you get? Is there anyone around us that I can talk to about selecting a cam? Send me an email sometime.
P.S.- I can't wait till August 11th- how soon till I can sign up?

If you plan on getting a power adder or a big cam, I would go with the 30's. I run 30's right now with my setup and have no problems with it. Sometimes I run a little rich but Ive been lazy with tuning it it.
Just my opinoin.

I think that's it. GO ILLINI!!!

Well I have the Holley kit with the new heads 2.02's and run 24# injectors and still run a tad rich with 42psi, the cam plays havok on the A/F ratio at idle and WOT, if I don't run the 42psi it gets ugly at low RPMS. Some people with the Holley kit have had problems with 30# being to big and they can't run them at enough pressure to get a good spray pattern. Remeber the injectors are supposed to run at 80% duty cycle. I also plan on going to a blower in the future, but I will go to 36 or 42#ers and get rid of the FMU.

If you get a wet nitrous system, use the 24s, if you get a dry nitrous system, use the 30s.

I agree with Mach1.
I did some research on this same thing, and I'm going to run a 75-90hp shot with heads/cam/intake. The 24's will keep the engine nice and tolerable on the street, while the 30s will require more tuning and attention to pressures. Go with a wet system for the 24's or a dry with 30s..

When I ordered my Bullet 75mm from Pro Flow, if I remember correctly, the little worksheet they give you to fill out asks whether you are running nitrous or not; either that or what your mods are. I think Mach 1 has the right idea, though. With the Holley SysteMAX II, if I remember the catalog ad right, it says 24 OR 30 lb/hr injectors will work. As long as your fuel pump can keep up, I don't think you'll have any worries with only a 50 horse shot and 24lb/hr's. Get a good regulator and gauge. Good luck!
