Default $150.00 for a T-5?

A friend is able to get me a T-5 for $150. He mentioned it may need a rebuild though. Is this a good deal? I've been looking at converting my AOD to a 5-speed.

Thanks,
Justin

Well, considering that I sold my T-5 that was leaking fluid, syncros shot, and a Hurst shifter for $400 cash...I would say $150 is a good price. You can get a complete re-build kit for around $250 or so. It's the labor that will get you if you have a tranny shop do it. A local tranny shop wanted $600 in labor plus parts! So I moved up to a Tremec for $1200. hehehe

Good luck,
E

Right on, thanks. Now I need to determine the cost of all the parts I'll need for the conversion. I've been told:

* tranny
* bellhousing
* clutch
* clutch cable
* clutch/brake cluster including paw and quadrent, or aftermarket one peice metal setup
* gas pedal
* pilot bearing
* shifter
* new center boot and trim
* pivot ball for bellhousing
* flywheel with new bolts
* two bellhousing bolts, or washers to take up the space in the two upper, longer AOD bolts
* pressure replate bolts and dowl pins for the flywheel
* T-5 backup light wiring harness
* speedomoeter gear

I think I heard someone makes a kit for this, right? Can someone point me in the direction of these kits?

Thanks,
Justin

Try calling D&D Performance - you can reach them on the web at www.ddperformance.com - very nice people that specialize in Mustang trannies. Or try Hanlon. Not sure of their number, but they are listed in MM&FF or 5.0.

Both D&D and Hanlon have seen this swap hundreds of times I'm sure.
