Default Won't start?

Hey Guys, I've been having a wierd problem...,My stang started acting up,it wouldn't start the other morning, turned over fine ect...but no fuel pump noise,so I figured the fuel pump relay under the seat...Nothing is open yesterday or today,I needed to move it out of the way of my wifes car,so I unpluged the relay and jumped the wires for the fuel pump.I tryed to start it,nothing! It cranks over fine but doesn't catch at all!? I can hear the fuel pump running, what else could it be? Can someone give me a checklist of sorts to go over, this is driving me nuts!
I forgot to mention that after it wouldn't start,.. sometimes the fuel pump would prime the system all by it's self? No key in the ignition?
Thats what made me think it was the relay....
Any thoughts would be great..
Thanks Eh! Big Bopper.

although i don't think its the problem, try resetting the inertia switch in the trunk/hatch. Its tripped itself a few times on my car, and caused it not to start. As soon as I pushed the button, it was fine.

Incase you dont know where it is, its on the rear of the car towards the inside of the drivers side taillight.
