ok, just a couple thoughts.
1st. (and perhaps most important) did you do any type of work to the car prior and near the time this began?? whether it seems relevant or not,, ive even traced a problem ive mine back to a wash one time.
2nd. have you tried pulling the plugs immediately after it either bogs or dies completely? preferably dies completely?
Im not saying i think its related, but this happened to me and it was kinda off the wall so im going to mention it. i had changed the fuel pump and apparently in the process of reconnecting the gas tank i crimped the fuel return line. Perhaps there is something that either caused it to crimp or is plugging it up partially. this was causing the fuel to back up and flood my plugs,, pretty much from start up. it would drive poorly, but had no throttle response like your saying.
just something else to consider that i didnt see on here already.

hmmmm.... that sounds interesting..... I never thought about checking the return line, although I haven't done any work to it in a while. This just kinda happened out of the blue. I'll have to examine the lines real close.
The spark plugs all look real good so internally I think it's ok, well as ok as a 168,000 mile engine can be.

IT WAS THE COIL! THE GODDAMNED COIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I put my buddys coil on tonight and the car started right up and ran perfectly. Made a few runs with it up and down the highway, and it was perfect. I'm so skeptical though, I'm so afraid this is just a freak occurance!
Anyone know how to test a coil???

Set your DMM to ohms, and measure the resistance across the two primary terminals (the little spade connectors that the harness plugs into). It should be between .03 ~ 1.0 ohms.

You can also measure the resistance between the pos. primary terminal (may have a "+" next to it) and the secondary terminal (the post the coil wire attaches to). It should be between 8000 and 11,500 ohms.
