Question Cincinnati Composites - Are they any good?

I saw this hood on their site...

This is the hood I want but nobody else makes it. I have heard these guys have increased the quality of their hoods and was wondering if anyone else has ordered one recently that could tell me what they thought of the quality and fit when they got it.

Thanks!

I want the same hood for my stang but they are the only company that makes it. All I have heard is bad news out of that company. I have found an alternate yet effective idea.
Check out www.bansheeperformance.com , I know its not a cowl hood but it offers something that not many others have. It's more exoensive but its functional.

If I was going to buy a ram air system like that it would be a Cervini's Ram Air hood. They have a similar setup and it looks better IMO. I have heard that Cincinnati Composites redid their molds and are now putting out a better quality hood. Anyone else have any info on this?

I went to AGE Classic and had no problem. However, I don't know if they have your design. Pick up a copy of the new 5.0 and try checking out Cobra Auto designs. they're cheap

In the mustang corral I went to the classified section. There I read about a guy that needs something like 15 people to sign up with him so they can have the exact same hood like cinci-crap one but made by another manufacture that has way better quality. The guy bought the hood from cinci-crap and threw it away. That's why he's having them made. The price was a little steeper than cinci-crap but if the quality is good then I'd pay for it. Something like $440 I think.

Do you have a direct link to that post Fostang?

I've been thinking of just getting a Cervini's 4" cowl and having the scoop made into it by a friend who does a lot of fiberglass work. I've seen his work and it is good, but when you do stuff like that on fiberglass the seams usually start to show in time and even crack a little. Anyone else tried this?

I guess I could just get a regular cowl if nothing else but I really want something different. I wonder if Cervini's would do a custom hood like this?

2FastLX, if your feeling lucky, and don't mind taking a chance, I'd go ahead and get that hood from CC. I emailed them about their quality, so they know that we know about their poor quality. Maybe they have since rectified the problem.

When you order yours, tell them you want one that's hand picked and the best one they have, because if it's of poor quality, your going to let everyone know about it...

Thumbs down

I have the 94 Cobra R Ram Air Hood 2.5". I gotta tell you, I had one before this one. They said you can use the stock hood hold down. Well they were right. At least for a while... My hood flew up and destryoed the windshield while destroying itself. I may be a fool for getting another one, but I love the look. This time I have hold down pins which I hate. I like my hood, but do I recommend them? HELL NO.

Unhappy

Hmmm. (sigh). I'm sorry to hear this about CC since CC and Motion Performance Parts are the only 2 manufacturers (I know of) who make 4" cowl induction hoods for '79 - '82 Mustangs.

Well then, has anyone bought a hood from Motion? Only choice I get is between CC and Motion. Prices are about the same so now I'm looking at quality, I can't screw around with my money and time.

if I were you I would drive down to their shop and pick one out yourself. That's what I wish I did when I bought my hood. I have the exact same hood and it looks good now. after about a day's worth of sanding to get all the waves out.

I read a review on stangnet.com about Cincinnati Composites, there were nothing but bad things said about their quality. I need a 4 or 5 inch full length hood for my 86 mustang, and their one of the few companies I've found that make one for my year, but after all I've heard I'd never buy from them. If anyone knows a good company to get a 5 inch full length for an 86 let me know.

I can't account for Cincinnati Comp, but I just ordered the same hood for my '95 GT from Design Concepts, and it was perfect. I have had a Cervini's hood as well, and the DC hoods quality was every bit as good as theirs. You can see a pic of the hood at http://home.earthlink.net/~cbzfan

Hope this helps.

Only Motion Performance Parts and CC make the hood I need for '79-82 Mustangs. Cervini's and No one else makes it. But I can't get any info/reviews on the quality of Motion's hoods.
