combo help
Here is the situation. I need to put together a low cost engine. Based off a stock short block. The problem is that I'm building my whole car this winter and I would like to have it running for this next summer. As you know things really add up. So to be safe, I better use cheap power for now so I can make sure I get this thing done. I'm going with a 650 carb, victor jr,long tubes, tremec tko/600,spool,4.10's,maybe 100hp shot of the good stuff. but what to do about heads? and cam? thanks for you help.

Re: combo help
For a cam either the E-303 or TFS Stage 1 both work well. Depends what you're lookin for.
And for heads, you could either hog out the stock E7's or get some decent aftermarket ones. Could use the FRPP GT-40 Turbo Swirl heads, they're aluminum and are fairly cheap (around $600 I believe). Or try to find some good used heads.

Re: combo help
Not really, just make sure your intake has enough flow to keep up. Although I wouldn't really call those a "budget" head. But those are awesome heads, and are my personal choice for heads to go with. Just wish I could afford them.
What HP are you lookin for and what kind of RPM's do you plan on running? That will decide whether the stock short block will be ok or not, aswell as how well its been previously maintained.

Re: combo help
I would like to make about 300hp at the wheels. @no more than 6k rpm. I guess the afr's are not really budget minded. I'll check into those gt40's.

Re: combo help
On Ebay there is a set of heads called Pro 210 they claim to be the same as the Victor Jr. heads. You can get them with everything shipped for $850. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Re: combo help
The TKO is a bit overkill.
