School me again please.

Ok, i was just wondeirng...What year produced the best 351w block? I have a 1974 351w that is going into my Mazda RX7, but i want to buy another block for use in my 1991 notchback project.
Any info would be great

all i've "heard" on that subject is 69..

but do a search on me at corral "brad" is my name there... i have a new complete 351 for sale in their windsor parts forum. just thought u might be interested.

i "heard" the newer model ones were.. like the one's in newer trucks.. .. there again take into accuout i dont know personally but just telling ya what i've heard and read on other sites..

The conventional wisdom as far as i know it has always been that the blocks after late 70's had to thin a cylinder walls to be any good for hi po applications ... I had a 83 block sonic checked about two months ago and the shop said it was the first 351W block newer than 79 he'd checked ... it came out according to him, substantially thicker than any 351W block he'd ever done. So much for conventional wisdom ??

I was told the newer ones...out of the trucks and such, atleast the ones that were machined to accept roller cams, were lightend up in certain areas, which made them weaker the the older ones. I have yet to build my 351w..so I do not know this for a fact...just been told.
