Gears
Just got my car back that i had put 4.10s in. I love it. Just wondering what to do next because I was reading a forum that had said that around in the 3000-5500 range, the car does not pull as strong because it is basically stock. I was wondering what to do next. I have a aod with cat back exhaust, cold air intake, and 4.10s. Any suggestions.

underdrive pulley's, x-pipe or h-pipe and headers, then what im doing is saving up for the intake manifold-cam-heads combo.

definately a good intake setup including manifold and throttle body will bring your rpm range up a bit!

Do not touch the motor. Work on the car. Suspention is the key, you can run deep into the 12s with a stock motor. I ran 12.40s with a 1.59 60ft on a stock motor. When you can not spin the tires any more, you will need motor work. You need the car to where you can stomp the gas and it just leaves, if not you are not utilizing what you have.

I would agree with the exhaust upgrade, it's a noticable difference and the sound is a bonus. Also it's important to get a good shifter at this point before you start hammering the tranny for early retirement, I know with 4.10's we go through the gears rather quickly.

I would agree with the shifter. I just installed a short throw in my cobra and the difference is amazing.

88workcar is 100% right. I suffered through a nice engine build, and for only running a .5 sec faster. Not worth it to me. I did suspension and dropped straight into the 12's with the same engine setup.
Suspension, lighten the car up, and get some good tires for launching. Then worry about the rest of the combination. You'd be surprised at what a 225 hp 302 can do for a car that doesn't spin.
