97 v6, to windsor.... thoughts? Feeler?
I have 97 mustang with the 3.8 v6, which, for a daily driver, with 233000 miles, is just.... meh, ok.
I have sittin collecting dust, a mildly built windsor, carburated, that i was goin to install in my 68 bronco, but thoughts are up in air. I also have just inheritted a van, with fuel injected windsor and auto overdrive trans. So.... Whats the thoughts. I would like the injected windsor in my bronco along with the overdrive, no probs for me with doin the conversion, im good with the bronco.. What im considering is putting the carbed windsor into the little stang.. It already has an automatic trans in it. From what i have been able to find, i understand that the v6 has same belhousing bolt pattern, BUT that is all i have got. What, where, hows.... ya know. i didnt find a whole lot here, detailing the conversion, and what items i may need to change... wire harness, torque converter, and so on. What cha all got, what cha all think?? |

Yeah. currently the car is automatic, i dont wanna go thru the hassle of swaping in clutch pedal assembly and all that.. ill go buy another car before i go thru that crud again.
Is it pretty much a drop in? as far as motor mounts go. |

Re: 97 v6, to windsor.... thoughts? Feeler?
yea it will bolt in.as far as hood clearance idk it will depend on intake and carb.ive done a few swaps its not that hard.i had a 88 turbo coupe i converted to a 302 5speed that was a pain cuz it wasnt made for a cable style clutch and urs is.if ur not gonna build the crap out of the motor id put a t5 in it.automatic i like the c4 but it doesnt have od.if the car is nice i wouldnt let the transmission hold u up.
