351W - with some Q's
I have a 351 in my 68 coupe. The engine was transplanted before I bought the car, and Im not sure of the year of the engine.. I can tell you there is absolutly no emission on this puppy though. Here's my Q. I want to put a higher flowing waterpump on there, but is the year a concern? How do I go about this?
Also, I know I should switch over to an electric fan, but for now I have this 16" fan (will this be enough) to cool this puppy. Im pretty sure, this engine is not a great performer, but could be after a rebuild and all the go fast goodies, but for now, Im replacing the radiator to a 3 core, and matching the 16" fan with a new one, and looking for a waterpump. Will this keep it cool enough for now? Should I be looking into anything else for starters? This is a 2-3 day a week driver, prob. no more than 30-45 mins per trip if this helps any. |

Re: 351W - with some Q's
If the cooling system in place is functioning properly, the 351 will be fine.
Take a look at the block for casting numbers. Those numbers will tell you what year the block was manufactured. i.e. C8 = 1968. C being the decade 60's C 70's D 80's E 90's F 8 being the year in that decade. |
