Default Holley SystemMax Package

Ok, I was looking through summits's catalog and they have the systemax kit.. it's like 2100 bucks, it's heads, intake, cam, and timing chain. They claim take your stock components and make 350 HP with this stuff... sounds reasonable... so then I look at superchargers for 1000 bucks MORE, you only end up getting 305 horse or something like that.. hardly seems worth the extra money and superchargers can have issues as you all know. What do you guys think of the holley kit though.. would I be better off going all TrickFlow or Edelbrock... I would imagine any given company's components are designed to work well with each other..

i think 350hp would be the very best that you can get out of the kit. a buddy of mine put the excessive motorsports holley stg2 kit on his car, and ran a best of 13.20. that was on a tired short block though. i think you would be better off with edelbrock preformer heads, or out of box trick flows if you were going to leave your short block stock. have heard nothing but good about the intake, but i have never run one. personally i would recommend trick flow components..........just my .02

I think the Twisted wedge heads from Trickflow are the best all around heads. Out of the box they flow very nice and allow the use of bigger valves on a stock shortblock. They can also be modified to produce some seroius power if you plan on going to a more powerful engine combo down the road. The price on them is also very good. Whats not to like!

I am running trickflow heads with a holley intake. I am very pleased with the power its making (about 340 at the wheels)

So you ran 12.066 with just heads, cam and intake? that sounds like it's well worth the 2500 bucks... to take a stock 15 second car amd drop down 3 seconds...

Beware the heads, they work well BUT....... the spring seats are thin and without hardened seats they wear the heads fast!!!!! make sure they have hardened seats before you install them.

It seems most people seem to like the TFS heads... would I best to go with a set of twisted wedges, a street heat intake and then SOME cam .... the AFRs are about 200 more then teh TFS, is there that much of a difference?

dont forget about all the other stuff you need for the kit. you will need a fuel pump, air meter, injectors, throttle body, gaskets and some other stuff. the heads as stated above are the thing.they only come with a one year warranty. my car on the dyno puts out 305 hp and 310tq. flywheel hp should be around 350. mine is on a 120k stock block though. I dont go to the track, but i did get to run my buddies 2002 ram air ta with the 6 speed. my car being a heavy conv. i still pulled away hard in 1&2.
Hope this helps

I have never taken the car to the track, just played a little on the street. I really dont know what it would do. I am not sure if Rick91GT is still on this site, but he had the kit with the 2.02 heads/and goes to the track. Take what was said about the heads to heart though, my experience with Holley customer service was pathetic. call everyday and get a new excuse-leave phone&email messages to no end or help. It took like 3 months for them to tell me the heads with less than 2k miles were out of warranty. Hind site being 20/20, id get the holley intake, afr heads, and a wolvering cam. just my 2 cents
good luck
