Post Cobra Grill with running horse insert.

What do you think of the product overall. How is the fit, finish, and ease of installation.

Thanks,
Dan

Thumbs up

I put one on my '88 GT from Cervini and I think it looks great, the fit and finish were awesome, I just need to match the paint of my car, along with the hood! You'll like it and is easy to install, just use a dremel, it makes things easy! They give you a template you use and make the lines and cut, just like that! Here's mine!

I just put one from design concepts on my 92 GT. The fit wasn't perfect, but I was able to rig it just right. I used the template and cut out the grill with a hand hacksaw(please dont try this at home...its not fun...hehe). I would do it again though and feel it was worth it. I will post some pics tomorrow for you to see. It came out looking real good though

if you have to cut your bumper cover...wouldnt that make it either not straight or make the plastic like...frizzy?

Pics are at this site: http://www.smokeydp.com/car/car3.htm
PS. Yes thats salt on the bumper...didn't have time to clean it.

you only cut out a small portion for the hollow part on the cobra grill where u see the hollow part that the horse is in. If you cut out extra or make the hole too big, it doesn't matter, because the new grill will overlap it, and you dont even see the cuts. I should have taken pics with the grill off because its hard to explain where u make the cut.

yes the new piece covers the cut completely so that won't matter, but I used a dremel with like 10 freakin cutting wheels.. (those wheels suck, they break constantly!) but still easier than a hack saw!! LOL

It does look better than the oval on an LX like mine. I like the GT however, with the solid piece and the oval I think the GT looks better than the LX. The Cobra is nice on either one but I was wondering, is it held on with double backed tape? To me, I think that Cervini is kind of shorting people by having the majority of their body kits attached in this manner. That is, if indeed the double backed tape is the means in which the part is attached to the vehicle.

The Design Concepts on is help on by double tape and two screws on the top part where the hood gets closed. The two sided tape didn't stick very well on the bottom, but on the sides it worked fine, and It holds on nicely. I imagine if I hit a decent bump it wont flop around or anything cause of the fit. I dont know about ther Cervinis one, but I imaging it uses 2 sided tape also.

Hey, Joe. I saw that picture of your car back in October. Is the pic u posted an old pic, or is it still not painted? Looks good though, thats the hood I want to get down the road.

Thanks Smokey,
I just think that two sided tape is kind of marginal as far as attaching a body part onto the vehicle. I almost was sold on it. I guess I will have to come up with a means of attaching it properly should I buy one.
Thanks
Dan

Well if you do find something that is better than the two sided tape, please let me know, because I would really like to do a better job attaching it.

It looks real nice, the only things I am leery of is the tape, and the fact that I have to ruin my stock bumper cover. I would probably find a small plastic rivet or some low profile hardware to "button" down the piece. Or at the least, step up to a contact cement type of product.
The car looks good.
Snow must be a bi*** huh?

When you get your insert painted, tell the body shop to use a bonding agent. I didn't like the double sided tape, either. Going on 3 years with that professional "glue" and its holding great.
