Question HELP!!! Engine cuts out!!

While driving alond engine dies. Tach goes imediately to "0". It's like there is no fire to ignition. All other electrical items stay on(lights, dashlights, gauges etc.) Sometimes it just fires back up while still rolling. But it has rolled completely to a stop. Car will turn over normal but won't start. No fire at coil. Let it sit for a few minutes and it'll crank right up. Might not show back up for days! Any ideas???

The ignition module comes to mind pretty quickly.

I'd replace it right off the bat and see where it takes you.

That exact same situation happened to me. Replace the module. Just in case, it is attached to the distributor

Thanks for all the ideas. I forgot to tell you guys, I can hear a relay or solenoid clicking under the dash on the passenger side. Sometimes the engine would die for only a second or two then come right back, ie. the clicking. I plan on firing it back up this weekend. I will try and better isolate the problem.

My 90 GT actually done the same thing. Now I have heard many guys say the control module such as what others had listed but I had mine put on a computer and it showed a weak fuel pump. So I purchased a new fuel pump and no problems since. It will save you money in the long run just to have it put on a computer. But hey, you could get lucky and it is the control module. GOOD LUCK

I did a little more digging today and I found out that the relay I heard clicking was the EEC solenoid. The only thing is, the module on the distributor could be causing this solenoid to cut in and out. I willl try to test EEC solenoid next time problem occurs. Any more ideas? Thanks
